One injured in motorcycle crash
SALINE COUNTY - One person suffered injuries when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement vehicle Saturday afternoon near Garden of the Gods, according to an Illinois State Police District 19 news release.
According to the release, an unidentified 45-year-old Carrier Mills man was driving his orange 1995 Honda Shadow motorcycle southbound on Forest Road near Garden of the Gods Road in Gallatin County.
At about 4:30 p.m., the unidentified man attempted to turn on Garden of the Gods Road and struck a white 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement vehicle, driven by an unidentified 41-year-old woman from Carbondale.
According to the ISP news release, the Forest Service vehicle had been sitting stationary, waiting to turn on Garden of the Gods Road from Forest Road, and the driver of the motorcycle experienced equipment malfunctions, causing him to collide with the Forest Service vehicle.
The unidentified driver of the motorcycle was taken to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The unidentified driver of the Forest Service Law Enforcement vehicle refused medical attention.
The driver of the motorcycle was cited for no valid insurance and violation of classification.
