Grace Greer

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Grace Greer, age 91, of Du Quoin, Ill., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009 at 6:56 a.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital, Du Quoin, Ill.

Grace was born on July 30, 1918 in Sato, Ill., a daughter to Oscar and Mollie (Gaertner) Welch. She married James (Sam) Greer and to this union a daughter, Renee, was born. Grace was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Du Quoin, Ill. She worked as a waitress for many years at the Ausburgs Blue Room, Hesters and Davies Inn. Grace was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and was a former Girl Scout Troop Leader.

Grace is survived by two grandchildren, Wendy (David) Hopkins of Du Quoin, Ill. and Grant Speers of Du Quoin, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Garrett Hopkins, Cole Hopkins and Aubrey Speers; son-in-law, Jerry Speers of Du Quoin, Ill. and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Renee Speers; two brothers, LeRoy Welch and Charles Welch; a sisterm Jessie Harsey Sullivan and special friend, David Black.

Funeral services were held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Richard Luh officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park, Du Quoin, Ill.

Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
