Joseph G. Mann

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Joseph G. Mann, age 76, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away, surrounded by his wife and children, on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 2:57 p.m. in his home.

Joe was born on June 3, 1934 in Murphysboro, Ill., a son to Bernard Albert and Magdalen Elizabeth (Ruppert) Mann. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a paratrooper. Just over 50 years ago, on Nov. 26, 1959, he married Mary Ann Malinski at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. and she survives. He had worked as an electrician with Arch Mineral Corporation Captain Mine until he retired in 1994 and was a member of the U.M.W.A. In his lifetime, he was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, Ill., Knights of Columbus, Pinckneyville, Ill., Pierce Arrow Society, Egyptian Antique Auto Club, American Thresherman Association, National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors of America. He enjoyed collecting and working on antique cars, clocks and guns and was well known for the show that he put on every year with his antique car during the Mardi Gras Parade.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Mann of Pinckneyville, Ill.; four children, Rose Marie (Steve) O'Brien of St. Louis, Mo., Jane Louise (David) Barclay of Chicago, Ill., Bernard Albert (Christine) Mann of St. Louis, Mo. and Margaret Catherine (Ronald) Przygoda of Tamaroa, Ill.; three sisters, Cecelia McGavin of Bethleham, Pa., Jacinta Mann of Greensburg, Pa. and Julia Ann DeYoung of Madison, Wis.; six grandchildren, Michael O'Brien, Mary Catherine O'Brien, William Barclay, Travis Mann, Jessica Przygoda and Jeremiah Przygoda and two great-grandchildren, Devon Mann and Lydia Mann.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles Mann and Thomas Mann.

Funeral mass was held at St. Bruno Catholic Church on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Brian Barker and Father Richard Mohr officiating. Interment was in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Bruno Cemetery or the Pinckeyville K of C Council 2921 MR/LD Fund.
