Hazel Guriel

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Hazel Guriel, age 94, of Mason, Ohio, formerly of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in Mason Christian Village, Mason, Ohio.

Hazel was born on July 2, 1916 in Pinckneyville, Ill., a daughter to Hosea and Minnie (Lemmon) West. On March 4, 1965, she married George Guriel in Mt. Vernon, Ill. and he preceded her in death in June of 1991. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Du Quoin, Ill. and she and her husband owned and operated a trailer park for many years. Hazel enjoyed playing pinochle and traveling. She loved spending time with her family, was strong in her faith and her love of God and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Toni Smith of St. Louis, Mo. and Karen (Gary) Sweeten of Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandchildren, Julia (David) Knispel of Milford, Ohio and Timothy (Shelley) Sweeten of Canonsburg, Pa. and four great-grandchildren, Jacob and Lily Knispel and Jack and Emma Sweeten.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Vallie West and Dwight West and four sisters, Verna Hamilton, Gladys Lucas, Kathryn Davis and Effie Hammack.

Funeral services were held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. with Chaplin Dick Sedgwick officiating. Interment was in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children "Burn Unit."
