Mary Louise (VanCloostere) Endres
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Renowned life-long Southern Illinois resident Mary Louise (VanCloostere) Endres departed to eternal life Friday Sept. 10, 2010 at 8:09 p.m. while in Carbondale Memorial Hospital, due to heart complications.
A funeral mass was held 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro with Father Bob Flannery and Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating and burial at St. Andrew Cemetery. Immediately following the burial the family cordially invited everyone to join in a celebration of our beloved Mary Endres' life at the Knights of Columbus in Murphysboro.
Friends paid their respects from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday until 9:45 a.m. at Pettett Funeral Home. A rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Andrew School in Murphysboro, Illinois or the Cardiac Cath Lab at Carbondale Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, Ill.
Mary Endres, 82, was born on March 13, 1928, in Murphysboro, Ill. to Tony A. VanCloostere and Mary Agnes (Moore) VanCloostere.
Mary Louise married Gene O. Endres, son of Adolph Endres and Ida Eisenhauer on Aug. 27, 1946, in Murphysboro and together they raised seven children and operated a successful dairy and grain farm. Saddly, her husband Gene preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1981.
Since birth Mrs. Endres was an outstanding Catholic. As of late she was a dedicated member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale, where she served as a Eucharist minister, and joyfully volunteered to the assisted living in the community. She was a member of the Sacred Heart League, Eternal Word Television Network, and St. Joseph Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by six children, Mary Agnes Endres of St. Louis, Mo., Diana Marie Bailey of Du Quoin, Cynthia Gene of Brenham, Tex., Michelle Catherine Hayes of Edwards, Colo., Lawrence Van Endres and his wife Susan Ann Endres of Vergennes and Lisa déChantal Endres and Blu Whipple of Houston, Tex.
Mary took great pride in her 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren: Jim and Ellen Keenan and their family Kori, Lexis, Jeffrey, Kenna, Lelle, and Ava; J. E. Bailey and his family Jennifer, Autumn, and Kelsey; Michael Bailey, his wife Denise Bailey and their family Grace, Josie, and Jake; Olivia Jones and her husband Eric Jones and their family Trevor and Noah; Christopher Dickman, his wife Debra Dickman, and their family Conrad; Demitria Wright and her husband Kevin Wright; Laura Smith, her husband Justin Smith and their family Hannah, Haigen, and Hendrix; Gene Patrick; Johanna VanEndres Hayes; Kathleen Endres and her son Samuel; Scott Endres, Shelby Endres; and Kent Whipple.
