Donald Adam Weis
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Donald Adam Weis, 69, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 11, 2010 at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital at Murphysboro after a long battle with bile duct cancer.
He was born on May 29, 1941 in Du Quoin to Adam and Emma (Heumann) Weis. He was the youngest of six children. He married his high school sweetheart, Jo Ann Stone on Feb. 4, 1961. She knew he was the one for her when he played his guitar at the High School Sweetheart dance in 1959. Don and Jo Ann had two children - Todd Weis of Webster Groves, Missouri and Travis Weis and wife Emily of San Diego, California.
Don grew up and worked on the family farm for most of his life. He also built and ran a heavy equipment construction business for over 30 years. During the last decade, he drove an over-the-road tractor-trailer which gave him the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of this country. He really enjoyed meeting all the different types of people and never met anyone who wasn't friendly. He was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and grandchildren - Lauren, Jenna, Connor and great grandson Samarion; his brother - Eugene Weis and wife Geneva of Du Quoin, sisters - Emma Johnson of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Virginia Corzine of Anna, Ill., Berniece Hawk and husband Everett (Bud) of Pomona, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister - Alberta Bossel.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Rich Luh officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Missouri Baptist Cancer Center, who provided great care for him during the last year and a half and will be accepted at the funeral home.
