Clifford E. Anderson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Clifford E. Anderson, 81, of Metropolis, Ill., formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:58 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, 2010 at Southgate Nursing and Rehab Center in Metropolis.

Mr. Anderson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Paducah, Ky. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Southern Illinois University. He was a teacher and guidance counselor at Metropolis Community High School and Massac County High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was born Sept. 22, 1929 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Homer C. and Addie (Vincent) Anderson.

He is survived by one brother - Tom Anderson of Riverside, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Addie Anderson, two sisters - Glenna Kelley and Mary Beard and three brothers - Leroy Anderson, Wayne Anderson and Russell Anderson.

Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin.

Those attending the service were asked to go directly to the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baptist Children&#39;s Home and Family Services and will be accepted at the funeral home.
