</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Gertrude B. Marshall, 92, of Chester, Illinois, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011 at her home in rural Chester, IL.

She was born to Wilfred "Fred" and Rena (nee: Meyer) Marshall on August 12, 1918 in rural Chester, IL.

Gertrude was an Elementary School Teacher for 40 years beginning her career in one room schools and retiring from Central Attendance Center in the Sparta School District in 1980.

She was a member of the New Palestine Methodist Church, New Palestine, Illinois, the Randolph County Teachers Association and the IRTA.

She enjoyed her flower garden, watching all the birds that she cared for, going fishing every chance she got and the companionship of her dog, Pal.

Survivors include: Her cousins, Wilbert Hillerman of Chester, IL, Paul Coopman of Collinsville, IL, Nancy Zang of Michigan and Janice Burk of Jackson, MO.

Her close friends and caregivers: Phil and Shannon Kattenbraker, Marilyn Diske, Judy Yankey Lago, Phyllis Bunton, and Nancy Jeffers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother - Wilfred Marshall, and one sister - Kathryn Marshall.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 8 , 2011 at 11:00 A.M., at the Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home in Chester, IL. Rev. Marvin "Bud" Bennett Officaiated. Interment was at the New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine, IL
