Anna F. Lancaster

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Anna F. Lancaster, 93, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:50 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at the Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin.

Anna had worked as a manager of the bookkeeping office for 7-11 Stores. She was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin. For many years, she hosted church in her home. She played the piano and french horn for church services, as well as sang in the Ruby Quartet. Anna spent time traveling with her father, a traveling evangelist, and she played the music for those services. She was a lifelong Christian and her life was about serving the Lord.

She was born Jan. 22, 1918 at Waterloo, Canada, the daughter of Elias and Mary (Bender) Ruby.

She married John L. Lancaster on Nov. 22, 1936 at Evansville, Ind. and he preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1988.

She is survived by one sister - Beulah Higdon of Du Quoin, one brother - Eldo Ruby and wife Fran of Hensley, Ark., one sister-in-law - Olga Ruby of Brush, Colo., several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons - Glen Lancaster and Leslie Earl Lancaster, two brothers - Austin Ruby and Don Ruby, and one sister - Viola Spelts.

Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 at the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Dennis Fitzsimmons officiating.

Friends called from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life or the Gospel Assembly Church Music Department and will be accepted at the funeral home.
