Marie Ernestine Coffel

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Marie Ernestine Coffel, age 97, of Batavia, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2012, in Wheaton.

She was born May 4, 1915, in Du Quoin, Illinois, the daughter of John H. and Mary E. (nee Bryant) Gaetz. She was united in marriage to Nolan G. Coffel in 1935 in Du Quoin.

Marie was an active mother and supportive grandmother. She donated many hours to teaching Sunday School, being a Girl Scout Leader, being PTO President and doing church activities and Bible studies. She was a faithful member of Batavia Covenant Church in Batavia. ?

Marie is survived by one daughter, Mary Jane (Donald R.) Bauer of Wheaton; two granddaughters, Dr. Elizabeth Anne (Todd D. Starowitz) Bauer of Winfield, Ill. and Dr. Sarah C. (Cris D. Kennedy) Bauer of Chicago and a great-granddaughter Emma Jane Bauer-Starowitz.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Nolan G. and a brother, William M. Gaetz.

Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park, Route 51 north of Du Quoin, Illinois on Wednesday, May 16 at 1 p.m. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Batavia Covenant Church, 1314 Main Street, Batavia.
