Delmar W. Martin

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Delmar W. Martin, 77, of Elkville, passed away at 1:58 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at his residence.

Delmar had worked as a supervisor for Olin Corporation. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in DeSoto. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Elverado Board of Education, Secretary of Southern Conference Lutheran Men in Mission, President of Mt. Calvary Church Council and served in various capacities of the church. He was Co-Founder, President and member of Elkville Khoury League. He was Village Clerk of Elkville, President of SIJBL and had volunteered for the River to River race.

He was born Dec. 19, 1934 at Hallidayboro, Ill., the son of Charles Gilbert and Alta A. (Cox) Martin.

He married Mary Ann Jennings on May 23, 1959 at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in DeSoto and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Elkville, two daughters - Laurie Rednour and husband John Jr. of Du Quoin and Julie Childers of Elkville, one son - Kevin Martin and wife Beth of Elkville, six grandchildren - Lauren Cashion and husband Daniel, John Rednour III, Brooke Martin, Amelia Martin, Jessica Childers and Madison Martin, three great grandchildren - Drayke Cashion, Karah Cashion and Mallory Cashion, and one sister - Lela Shaw of Du Quoin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister - Doris Leake.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in DeSoto with Rev. Ken Staib officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday.

Burial was in the Elkville Cemetery at Elkville.

Friends may make memorials to the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in DeSoto and will be accepted at the funeral home.
