Darrell Wilson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Darrell Wilson, 73, of Marion, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Herrin Hospital in Herrin.

Darrell had been a mechanic at Freeman United #6 Coal Mine for 17 years. He had also been a jailer at Perry County Sheriff&#39;s Office for eight years. He was a member of the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church in Du Quoin. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 40 years and a member of the Shriners for over 30 years. He was a hard worker and loved his grandchildren very much. He loved gardening and spent much of his time working for the Shriners Crippled Children&#39;s Hospital.

He was born July 27, 1938 at Pyland, Miss., the son of Ben and Mary Ann (McCluney) Wilson.

He married Margaret Marie Holcomb on Dec. 12, 1967 at Sumter, Ala. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Marion, six children - Charles Tim Wilson and wife Debra of Houston, Miss., Thomas Mark Wilson and wife Barbara of Houston, Miss., Joseph Darrell Wilson of Meridian, Miss., Bobby Lloyd Motes and wife Diane of Wrenn, Miss., Bennie Wayne Motes and wife Gladys of Greenwood Springs, Miss., and Melissa Marie Rubright and husband Charles of Marion, Ill., two sisters - Glendora Kendall of Wisconsin and Ann Hodnett of Houston, Miss., 12 grandchildren - Easton Rubright, Emily Rubright, Amber Wilson, Elizabeth Wilson, Tyler Wilson, John Michael Motes, Heather Motes, Brandy Motes, B.J. Motes, Jamie Tomlin, Eric Wilson and Felicia Wilson and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son - Gregory Alan Wilson and two brothers - Charles Wilson and Eugene Wilson.

Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Ted Clark officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church in Du Quoin.

Masonic services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Marion.

Friends may make memorials to the Shriners Crippled Children&#39;s Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
