Charlene Sanford Arens
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Charlene Sanford Arens, 81, of Wellsville, passed away on May 26, 2012 at New Florence Nursing and Care Center where she had resided since September 8, 2004.
Her parents were Charles C. and Gertrude Schleper Sanford. She was born November 19, 1930 in Du Quoin, Ill. Charlene was a 1948 graduate of Du Quoin Township High School. She graduated from St.John Mercy Hospital in St. Louis with a nursing degree in 1951. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Marshall Browning Hospital, St. Louis Red Cross Blood Mobile, Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Mo. and as a school nurse at the community school. On February 13, 1954, she married Frederick J. Arens. They were the parents of seven children in Wellsville, Mo.
Her six living children are Jean Benny and husband Dennis, Joan Hank and husband John, Jim Arens, John Arens, Mike and Carla Arens and Mark and Cheryl Arens, all in the area. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerry; brother, Gene C. Sanford and infant sister, Ethel. She leaves one living sister, Mary Anne Sanford Weischhaus, Martinsburg, Mo.
Charlene will be remembered by her 12 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation was held on May 28 at Myers Funeral Home, Wellsville, MO. and a funeral Mass on May 29 at the Church of the Resurrection, Wellsville.
