Michael Wolfe

Michael Wolfe, 85, of Dowell, passed away at 2:08 a.m., Monday, Aug. 13, 2012 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Michael had worked as a miner at the new and old Kathleen mines and as a boss at Freeman #4 mine. He had worked as a supervisor at MSHA office in Benton for 35 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Du Quoin V.F.W., Dowell American Legion, Du Quoin Elks Lodge, Benton Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. Michael had served as Mayor of Dowell for two terms.
