Master Sergeant Michael Gene Kuhnert

Master Sergeant Michael Gene Kuhnert, retired U.S. Army, 51, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 8:07 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012 at his residence.

Mike was a retired Master Sergeant, having served in the United States Army in the Persian Gulf War. He was a master gunner and a tank commander. He received Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal and Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia). He had also worked as a carpenter. He was of the Baptist faith. Mike had been a member of the Du Quoin V.F.W. and Pinckneyville Eagles Lodge.
