Leroy Light
Leroy Light, 63, of Vergennes, passed away at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
Leroy was born in Salem, Missouri on Oct. 1, 1950, the son of Arthur and Legola Weber Light. Leroy married Mary Ann Crawford on Oct. 9, 1971 at the Assembly of God Church in Ava, Illinois. He was Custodian at the Elverado School District in Elkville, Illinois. Leroy was a member of the Southern Cherokee Nation in Webber Falls, Okla. and the NRA.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Light of Vergennes, Ill.; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Jody Moore of Du Quoin, Ill.; two grandchildren, Dalton and Tyler Moore, and siblings, Kathern Medlin of Glen Allen, Mo., Jerry Light of Salem, Mo., Wilma Forkum of Glen Allen, Mo., David Light Sr. of Glen Allen, Mo. and James Light of Salem, Mo.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Steven, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Kathern Medlin officiating. Burial will follow at Creekpaum Cemetery in Vergennes, Ill.
Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and on Friday from 7:30 a.m. until the hour of service.
Memorials may be given to Creekpaum Cemetery.
