Christena Faye (Carr) Blythe

Christena Faye (Carr) Blythe, 91, of Benld, Ill., passed away at Heritage Health in Gillespie, Ill. on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 8:15 pm.

She was born Oct. 29, 1922, in Texline, Tex. to Frank Carr & Florence (Williams) Carr. She married the late Thomas Blythe.

Faye was a homemaker, waitress, worked at Red Nepute's Grocery Store in Benld, Ill., Ball Brothers in Hillsboro, Ill., Vito & Anna game Farm and an election judge. She also was a member of VFW Post 4547 Ladies Auxilary of Gillespie and the Dorchester Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, playing BINGO and collecting salt and pepper shakers.

She is survived by her two sons, Thomas (Donna) Blythe of Du Quoin, Ill., Charles (life partner Jeff Smith ) Blythe of Villages, Fla.; three daughters, Sharon (James) Turner of Jonesboro, Ark., Christena (Kenny) Jackson of Gillespie, Ill., Rebecca (William) Davidson of Mt. Olive, Ill.; six grandchildren, Richard (Tabitha) Turner, Laura (Mark) Land, Scott (Tracie) Turner, John Blythe, Jeremy Davidson, Aimee (Travis) Pence; six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Christena was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas Blythe; son in infancy, daughter in infancy; sister, Wilma Brown; daughter-in-law, Lowena Blythe.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Benld from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Kravanya Funeral Home in Benld, Ill. with Rev. Nancy Ribes officiating. Burial will be at Benld Cemetery in Benld, Ill.
