Peggy June Alvis
Peggy June Alvis, 88, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:35 P.M., Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Fairview Healthcare and Rehab Center in Du Quoin.
Peggy had worked as a waitress and cook at the Maidrite in Du Quoin and had also been a cook at the Fairview Nursing Center. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Du Quoin.
She was born April 14, 1926 at Du Quoin, IL the daughter of George A. and Sarah (Napier) Alvis.
Peggy is survived by her daughter- Sherry Moore of Du Quoin, granddaughter- Robin Pierce of Du Quoin, four great grandchildren- Devon Pierce, Ian Pierce, Kevin Pierce and Whitney Pierce all of Du Quoin, brother- Phillip Lamar Alvis of Du Quoin, three sisters- Louise Milam of Du Quoin, Janice Rendleman of Murphysboro and Joan VanZandt of Du Quoin, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, brother- George Alvis and sister- Marilyn Siefert.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the IOOF Cemetery in Du Quoin with Rev. Kent Eaton officiating.
Family and friends attending the services are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Alzheimers Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
