Doris R. Stephens

Doris R. Stephens, 91, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:40 A.M., Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.

Doris had worked as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and playing cards.

She was born March 4, 1924 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of John A. and Frances (Waldman) Reminger.

She married Thomas D. ìTimî Stephens on December 29, 1951 at Du Quoin and he preceded her in death on July 17, 1990.

She is survived by one son - Joe Stephens and wife Billie of Du Quoin, three grandchildren - Emily Melvin and husband Aaron of Energy, Will Stephens of Murphysboro and Kathryn Stephens of Du Quoin, two great grandchildren - Jayne Marie Melvin and Henry Sawyer Melvin, special friend - Dean Campbell of Pinckneyville and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and eight siblings - Marie Stacy, Ernest Reminger, Lorenna Pritchett, John Reminger, Jr., Lucille Bruns, Joe Reminger, Orland Reminger, and Robert Reminger.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Thursday.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Masses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
