Obituary for Ernest "Ernie" F. Schuchert, Jr.

ERNEST "ERNIE" F. SCHUCHERT, JR., 87, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 3:15 a.m., Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

He was born to the late Ernest F., Sr. and Dorothy M. (nee: Schirmer) Schuchert on July 26, 1928 in Chester, Illinois.

He married Lorraine Seibold on June 16, 1951 in Chester. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2005.

Ernie was a mail carrier in Chester for 33 years.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chester, Illinois, the Knights of Columbus #3790 in Chester, and an alderman for the City of Chester for 14 years, from March 1, 1986 - November 20, 2000.

Survivors include 1 Son - Rob (Pam) Schuchert, Chester; Special Friend Eileen Hasemeyer, Chester; 1 Niece - Kathy Doty, El Dorado Springs, Mo; 1 Nephew - Frankie Doty, El Dorado Springs, Mo.

Preceded in death by: Parents, wife - Lorraine Schuchert and 1 Sister and Brother-in-law - Winnie and Frank Doty

It was Ernie's wish to be cremated.

Memorial Mass was held Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chester, Illinois with the Very Reverend Eugene H. Wojcik, V.F. and Father Allen Maes officiating.

Internment is in Evergreen Cemetery, Chester.

Visitation Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester.
