John G. Deleveski
John G. Deleveski, 85 years of Columbia, IL, passed away on October 7, 2012 at Columbia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Columbia, IL. He was born March 4, 1927, in Chester, IL, son of the late Frank and Sophia (Szydlowski) Deleveski. He was married to Delores (Hardy) Deleveski, who survives him. They were married November 13, 1954, in Cahokia, IL.
John was a retired accountant, having worked some 21 years with St. Louis County, MO government. He was a member of American Legion Post 581, Columbia, IL, Columbia Gymnastic Association, and the Knights of Columbus Council 1334, Waterloo, IL. He had served in the U.S. Marines, and was a WW II Veteran.
Also, surviving are brothers, Frank Deleveski of Chester, IL, and Raymond (Martha) Deleveski of Maryville, IL, brother-in-law, James (Judy) Hardy of Camden, TN, nieces and nephews, Gina (Tim) Hott of Woodstock, GA, Lisa (Todd) Harman of St. Jacob, IL, Dennis Benn of Henderson, KY, Carla (Terry) Prisk of Gurnee, IL, and Gaye (Pete) Galgano of Orland Park, IL, 10 great nieces & nephews, and 1 great-great nephew.
He was also preceded in death by sisters, Anna Benn, Frances Barnes, and Rosaline Deleveski.
Visitation was held Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, at the church, with Fr. Carl Scherrer, officiating. Interment follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Columbia, IL.
