Omer Knop, 85, of Chester, IL, passed away on Monday October 8, 2012 at 1:25 pm at Red Bud Regional Hospital in Red Bud, IL.

He was born to John and Lydia (nee: Hartman) Knop on October 23, 1926 in Steeleville, IL.

He married Ellanora Hoops on November 7, 1948 in Campbell Hill, IL.

Omer was a retired Highway Maintenance Worker for IDOT. He was also a retired Teamster, had worked for Chester Transfer, had driven buses for Eggemeyer Bus Service and had worked at Schroeder Funeral Chapel and Home Furnishings for 20 years.

He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, IL where he served as a past Elder and had served on the Board of Stewardship. He was also a member of the VFW Post #3553 and American Legion Alva Courier Post #487.
