John R. Kramm

John R. Kramm of Ashley, Illinois, departed this life at the St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia, Ill. on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at 1:28 a.m. He had attained the age of 79 years, seven months and 11 days.

Mr. Kramm was born in Beaucoup Township in Washington County, Ill. on July, 6, 1934, the son of William and Alma (Langa) Kramm. He was united in marriage to Irma Kirgan on Nov. 3, 1956 at St. Michael Catholic Church at Radom, Ill. and she survives his passing.

John was a veteran of the United States Army and was lifelong mechanic, specializing in heavy equipment and worked with Pitts Quarry near Ashley and later, Jax Asphalt Co. of Mt. Vernon, Ill. He was a member of the Ashley Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years and was a member of the Centralia V.F.W. He enjoyed cruise ship vacations, taken over the years, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Irma Kramm of Ashley, Ill.; four children, Cindy (Curt) Oltmann of Ashley, Ill., Robert (Maureen) Kramm of West Frankfort, Ill., John "Doug" (Joyce) Kramm of St. Louis, Mo. and Terry (Debbie) Kramm of Clinton, Mo.; a sister, Esther Balch of Du Quoin, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In accordance with Mr. Kramm's wishes, his remains will be cremated. There will not be any public services.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Ashley Firefighters Association are preferred and will be received by the Campagna Funeral Home who was in charge of arrangements.
