Marietta S. Moore of Carrier Mills

Marietta S. Moore, age 75, and a resident of Carrier Mills, passed away peacefully at 1:14 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019 at her residence.

She was born in Chicago, daughter of the late Peter Charles DeHaan and Mary Elizabeth (Tyahla) DeHaan.

Marietta married George J. Moore on Dec. 13, 1960 in Cairo, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2007.

She was a member of the St. Frances De Sales Catholic Church in Stonefort. She worked and retired as a registered nurse, and she and her late husband owned and operated the News Shoppe in Carrier Mills for many years selling and delivering papers.

She is survived by her son, Patrick Moore of Harrisburg; grandchildren Joey (Teresa) Harris, Cori (Elmer Jr.) Cox, Michael Moore and Ashley Moore; stepgrandchildren, Edward Antonacci and Stephanie LaBott; great-grandchildren Sierra (Dylan) Harris and Serenity Cox; great-great-grandchildren, Annika and Deklan; and brothers, Richard Charles DeHaan of Trevor, Wisconsin and Peter Lawrence DeHaan of Grayslake.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marietta was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Moore, and a great-grandson, Conal Cox.

In accordance to Marietta's wishes, her body will be cremated. Services and burial of cremains will be held at a later date in Providence Cemetery in Carrier Mills, with the Rev. Tom Barrett presiding.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills.
