Jarrell R. Sutton, formerly of Saline County
Jarrell R. Sutton, 85, of Litchfield, formerly of Saline County, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018 at his home.
He was born Jan. 11, 1933, in Saline County, son of Wilfred Jennings and Dixie Frances (Jarrell) Sutton. Mr. Sutton graduated from Bixler Grade School, Eldorado Township High School and Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1953 to 1955. He was employed by O.K. Grain and Faultless Milling Company from 1964-1969. He managed O.K. Grain Company from 1969-2011.
He married Madeline Edmister on Sept. 22, 1956, in Corinth, Mississippi. She survives.
He is also survived by a son, Jarrell Rodger Sutton, of Ephrata, Pennsylvania; daughter, Ann Edmister Hudson, of St. Peters, Missouri; three grandchildren; Jessica Ann (Jesse) LaRue, Eric Michael Hudson, and Todd Parker Smith; three great-grandchildren; Margot Claire LaRue, Sophie Rose LaRue, and Michael Stephen LaRue; a brother, Charles (Virginia) Sutton, of Eldorado; and a sister, Veva Nell Ramsey, of Omaha.
Mr. Sutton was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Sutton; and a sister, Dorothy Colbert.
Mr. and Mrs. Sutton were foster parents to several children over the years, including Nina Golab of Cantrall and Dee Dee Dennison of Laurel, Mississippi.
Visitation for Mr. Sutton is from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23 at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Private family interment will be at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Eldorado at a later date.
