Charles E. 'Brad' Braden of Carmi

Charles E. "Brad" Braden, 71, of Carmi, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2019 at his residence.

He was born on Dec. 10, 1947 in Bryan, Texas, the son of Charles E. Braden Jr. and Evelyn Lorene (Helsel) Braden.

Brad retired in January 2017 as a financial adviser with Raymond James. He also had worked for Hilliard Lyons and A.G. Edwards.

Brad was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and trap shooting. He had an affection for sport and vintage cars and loved to travel. He was also a great cook.

Brad was a member of the First Christian Church in Carmi, Quail Forever and a past member of the Carmi Lions Club.

Brad is survived by his wife, Marcia Braden of Carmi; two daughters, Courtney (Lucas) Thompson of Carmi and Meghan (Andy Webb) Braden of Bonne Terre, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Cade, Abby, Isaac, Annabel and Benjamin Thompson, Chyler Govreau and Noah Joseph Webb; a sister, Barbara Brewer; and special caregivers, Michele Caudill, Jenny Bump and Keshia Sisco.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Chad Eugene Braden.

A celebration of Brad's life will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Brad's memory to the Baptist Children's Home or the American Diabetes Association. They will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
