SWCD congratulates poster, essay contest winners

The Randolph County Soil and Water Conservation District has announced the winners of its "Life in the Soil: Dig Deeper" fourth grade poster and sixth grade essay contest.

Luke Drake, who is in Luke Lochhead's class at Evansville Attendance Center, placed first in the fourth grade poster contest.

Owen Gibson, in Cynthia Hill's class at Coulterville Public School, placed second.

Vanessa Greene, who attends Chester St. John Lutheran school in Mr. Coffey's class, took first place in the sixth grade essay contest.

Each of the contest participants received a certificate and a monetary gift. The schools with a first place student award receive $250 for the purchase of educational materials.

The Randolph County Soil & Water Conservation District appreciates all the teachers, students, and schools who participated in the contests.

<b>Meeting schedule</b>

The Randolph County Soil and Water Conservation District has released its 2022 meeting schedule. Regular board meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. the first Thursday of the month at Randolph County Office Complex/USDA Building, 313 W. Belmont in Sparta, unless otherwise noted. There are no board meetings in June, July or December. 2022 meeting dates: Jan. 6; 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 3, general election; March 3; April 7; May 5; Aug. 4; Sept. 1; Oct. 6; and Nov. 3.
