Du Quoin briefs: New SUV for police
City will buy SUV for police department
The Du Quoin city council has approved the purchase of a squad car for the Du Quoin Police Department. According to Mayor Guy Alongi, the city is buying a used SUV from the Kansas Highway Patrol Fleet that has less than 40,000 miles on it. He said it will replace a police vehicle that is in bad shape, and move forward with the city's desire to switch its police cars over to SUVs.
Clerk will coordinate grant applications
City Clerk Ruth Hale has been appointed the coordinator for the Du Quoin CURE reimbursement program. CURE, or Coronavirus Urgent Remediation Emergency program, was passed by the U.S. Congress and provides funds that municipalities can apply for, to replace money lost to the COVID-19 epidemic.
