David W. Neville of Du Quoin
David W. Neville, 69, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:38 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019, at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
David was a drill foreman at the Freeman United Coal Company Fidelity Mine #11, and he also worked at the Freeman Coal Springfield Division - Industry Mine and at the Crown II Mine at Farmersville.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin. David was an Eagle Scout and had been a Boy Scout leader with his father for many years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and could tell you anything about the race winners. He attended 28 consecutive Brickyard races.
He was a member of the Freeman #11 retirees organization and an avid golfer. Dave was a hard worker and friend of many. He was always there when someone needed something.
David was born June 28, 1950, at Du Quoin, Illinois, the son of W. Wesley and Junietta (Pugh) Neville.
He is survived by a sister, Earlene Neville of Du Quoin; close friends JoAnn and Bud Mills, Dennis and Bonnie Harrison and Dot and Charlie Bishop, all of Du Quoin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Elaine Scruggs.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, 2019 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Revs. Joe Wagner and Charles Smith officiating.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life, or Hospice of Southern Illinois, which will be accepted at the funeral home.
