JALC officials suggest that all individuals wear masks on campus
CARTERVILLE - John A. Logan College remains committed to providing a safe learning and working environment for students, faculty, and staff. Officials announced in the spring that the College would return to face-to-face classes for the upcoming fall semester.
On Wednesday, July 28, College President Dr. Kirk Overstreet announced that the College remains committed to the plan to offer face-to-face classes in combination with online and hybrid courses during the fall semester.
"We are determined to maintain our plan for the fall semester," said Overstreet. "Through the use of masks, social distancing, and proper hygiene, we are striving to provide a safe working environment for all."
Overstreet added that the College would follow recent suggestions from the CDC and IDPH and encourage everyone to wear a mask indoors.
"Currently Region 5, which includes all counties in the College's district, is considered a substantial risk," said Overstreet. "To maximize protection from the Delta variant and prevent possibly spreading it to others, we will follow the suggestions of both the CDC and IDPH and suggest that all individuals on campus wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.
To help protect students and staff, the College has taken the following preventive measures: reactivated the COVID Coordinator position, classrooms are being prepared to comply with COVID protocols, sanitation stations, and masks will be available in all classrooms. All public areas, including classrooms, will be sanitized each evening.
The John A. Logan College COVID Taskforce is scheduled to meet Thursday, July 29 at 1 p.m. In addition, ICCB leadership is meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday. Meeting outcomes and updates will be communicated to the campus community and disseminated to local media and College social media.
