Candidates file petitions for city council
Candidates for seats on the Carbondale City Council are making their intentions known this week.
As of press time, sis candidates had filed to run for three available seats in the coming spring election. They include Nathan Colombo, Lee M. Fronabarger, Dawn Roberts and Brian Stanfield, as well as incumbents LaCaje Hill and Ginger Rye Sanders.
The period for filing nominating petitions for mayor and city council extends through 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28. Nomination packets are available at the City Clerk's Office, Room 165 of Carbondale City Hall, 200 South Illinois Avenue.
If 13 or more candidates file for city council seats, a primary election will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25. The primary election will narrow the field to six candidates for city council member to appear on the April 1 ballot.
Nominating petitions are available for public review in the office of the city clerk between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. until the end of the objection period, Nov. 4.
