George Stavroulakis of Zeigler

George Stavroulakis, 86, of Zeigler passed away at 11:28 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Herrin Hospital.

George was born April 1, 1938, in Royalton. He was united in marriage to Marlene Turner on May 15, 1965. She survives.

George was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Royalton. He was retired, having worked in business and accounting for IMRF. He enjoyed traveling and working around the house.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Beth (Mark) Ferguson of Atlanta, Ga.; special nephew Darrell (Martha) Turner; nieces and nephew Greg Derbak Linda Budrick, Janet O’Shea and Rhonda Day; and great-nephew, Rick.

He was preceded in death by his parents; half brothers John Derbak and Frank Chekvedia; a nephew, Mike; and one sister, Anka Hendry.

The celebration of life service was May 17 at St. Alysius Church if Royalton with Fr. Eusibius officiating. Inurnment followed at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation was at the church.
