Richard Arlen Bosecker
Richard Arlen Bosecker, 88, of Round Rock, Texas, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Thursday evening, March 9, 2023, in Round Rock, Texas.
He was born Dec. 25, 1934, in Albion to Henry and Lola Bosecker. In 1940, his family moved to Rockford, where he attended elementary and middle school. In 1950, the family moved back to farm life in the Lick Prairie Community near Mt. Carmel, where he graduated from high school. He met the love of his life, Carole (Seals) Bosecker, at Lick Prairie Christian Church, and they were married there on Aug. 4, 1957.
Richard graduated from Lincoln Christian College and served as a pastor for over 20 years; first at Metcalf Christian Church for three years, then at Elkville Christian Church for seven years with the last 10 years of service as a pastor at First Christian Church in Harrisburg.
He also worked for seven years at Sahara Coal and 20 years for the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. For several years he provided color commentary for area high school and SIC basketball games on WEBQ radio. In addition, he hosted a sports show on WEBQ radio for a time. He was an avid Chicago Cub and Illini fan and a great storyteller. He also loved history, enjoyed reading and doing book reviews at the Harrisburg library. He and his wife were active members of First Christian Church from 1968 to 2018. Richard had been a member of New Hope Christian Church in Hutto, Texas, since 2019. Richard loved God and was faithful to Him his whole life. He loved his whole family and was immensely proud of them all. He was a man of honor and had a
strong work ethic.
Richard is survived by two sons and their spouses, Tim and Lori Bosecker of Round Rock, Texas; Tony and Cheryl Bosecker of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren Lauren (Bosecker) and Jack Dunaway of McGregor, Texas, Trey and Makenzie Bosecker of Temple, Texas, Brandon Bosecker of Addison, Texas, and Kristen Bosecker of Huntsville, Texas; and two great-granddaughters, Liberty and Finley Dunaway of McGregor, Texas. He is also survived by his brothers and a sister and spouses, Darrell Bosecker of Anna, David and Sally Bosecker of Grayville, and Dick and Darlene Hale of Mt. Carmel.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Carole (Seals) Bosecker and his parents, Henry and Lola Bosecker.
A celebration of life was held at Stricklin Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday, March 20, officiated by Pastor Biff Moore. Visitation was held prior to services. A
private family burial was in Sunset Garden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, and envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Condolences may be left for the family at stricklinfuneralhome.com.
