<b>Chester Chamber dinner canceled</b>

The Chester Chamber of Commerce has canceled its Chamber dinner scheduled for Friday, June 17. "We regret that it has become necessary to do this," said Chamber Executive Director David Randall. Anyone who has already purchased tickets can get a refund by contacting the Chamber director who sold the ticket or by contacting Randall at Buena Vista National Bank.

<b>Tamaroa man dies after Route 154 crash</b>

A 77-year-old Tamaroa man died late Wednesday, June 8, after a single-vehicle motorcycle accident on State Route 154 at Eden Road, according to the Randolph County Coroner's Office.

Meril G. Queen Sr. was pronounced dead at Sparta Community Hospital. Queen was the sole rider of the motorcycle. The accident is being investigated by the coroner's office and the Randolph County Sheriff's Office.

<b>Death investigation</b>

The death of a 41-year-old man is being investigated by the Randolph County Coroner's Office and the Red Bud Police Department. Joshua A. Zipfel was pronounced dead at his home in Red Bud Thursday, June 9. Toxicology results are pending.

<b>Start of band's season delayed</b>

Due to excessive heat, the Chester Municipal Band has pushed back the start of its concert season until Tuesday, June 21. The season will continue with concerts at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, June 28, July 19, July 26, Aug. 2 and Aug. 9 behind the American Legion. The band will hold its Kaskaskia Island Concert at 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 4. There is no concert July 12.
