June Shurtz of Florissant, Missouri

June E. Shurtz, 88, went to be with the Lord on May 13, 2022 in St. Louis, Missouri. She rejoins her husband of 58 years, Dale E. Shurtz.

June was a loving foster mother to the late John Marty Wright, and loving foster grandmother of Jennifer and Dale.

June was also preceded in death by her parents Margaret (nee Krimminger) and Milford Smith; and her siblings Frank and Ron Smith.

June is survived by her sisters Nancy (Bob) Patterson and Diane Castrogiovanni; and her sisters-in-law, Jane Bell, Floy Ann (Dennis) Borgman and Ann Smith.

June also leaves behind her dear friend Danyela Harting, and several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

June was a loved fourth grade teacher at Lawson Elementary School in the Hazelwood district in Florissant, Missouri for over 30 years, and was once named Teacher of the Year.

She was a faithful member and Sunday school teacher of Lindsay Lane Baptist Church in Florissant, a member of Kappa Kappa Iota, and a member of the Florissant Historical Society.

She was also a cat lover and collected antiques. June was well known for her stylish appearance.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Hutchens Funeral Homes, 675 Graham Road in Florissant, Missouri.

An additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Lindsay Lane Baptist Church, 020 Lindsay Lane in Florissant.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Burial will held at 12:45 p.m. on Monday, May 23, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, Missouri.
