Wanda L. Gill of Shawneetown
Wanda L. Gill, 88, of Shawneetown, went to be with the Lord at 1:12 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Gallatin Manor in Ridgway, Illinois.
Wanda was born on Nov. 29, 1933 in Old Shawneetown to the late Grade T. and Mae (Heath) Frields. She married Nolan T. Gill on Oct. 12, 1950 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2012.
Wanda worked at Gill Five & Dime before she began her career, working as a beautician out of her home for many years. After retirement, Wanda worked at Gillio's Pizza with her son and daughter-in-law until Alzheimer's disease left her unable to continue working.
She was very active in the First Baptist Church of Shawneetown where she served as a Sunday school teacher. Wanda so enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wanda is survived by a son, Rick (Ladonna) Gill of Shawneetown; grandsons, Dante Gill of Evansville, Indiana and Josh (Megan) Gill of Shawneetown; granddaughter, Katie (Chris) Robinson of Sturgis, Kentucky; great-granddaughters, Eliana Gill, McKayla Robinson, Maggie Mae Robinson and Makenna Robinson; and great-grandson, Greyson Carter Gill.
In addition to her parents and husband Nolan, Wanda was preceded in death by a son, Randy Gill; an infant daughter; a sister, Betty Parmentor; and brothers, Ronald and Lloyd Frields.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown, officiated by the Rev. Jack Hall. Burial will follow in Westwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gallatin Manor or the First Baptist Church of Shawneetown and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
