Peace Lutheran schedule for Lenten services

Peace Lutheran Church, 303 N. Mulberry St. in Steeleville, invites you to worship on Wednesdays throughout the Lenten season. The focus will be "The Places of the Passion." Services are offered at 12:30 and 6 p.m.

The Lenten journey begins Ash Wednesday, March 2, with the imposition of ashes and Holy Communion. The "Places of the Passion" focus is the City of Jerusalem, the place of Passover where Jesus gathers with the crowds; Matthew 26:1-5.

The series will focus on:

March 9, Bethany, Matthew 26:6-13; Jesus is anointed for burial by his friend Mary at her home in this small town.

March 16, Mount of Olives, Matthew 26:30-35; The disciples sing a hymn with Jesus before they head out to this place of prayer.

March 23, Garden of Gethsemane, Matthew 26:47-56; Jesus is betrayed and arrested in this garden under cover of darkness.

March 30, the Courtyard, Matthew 26:57-69; While Jesus is put on trial before the high priest, Peter denies Jesus in this place.

April 6, Pilate's Judgment Hall, Matthew 27:11-23; Pilate is positioned here to set Jesus free but turns him over to be crucified instead.
