Randolph County briefs: COVID transmission remains high; Chamber luncheon

<b>COVID transmission remains high</b>

According to the Centers for Disease Control COVID-19 dashboard, the transmission of COVID-19 remains high in Randolph County. Everyone should wear a mask in public, indoor settings. The county dashboard reports 347 cases in the seven-day period from Jan. 31-Feb. 6, with a positivity rate of 11.85% and six new hospital admissions.

The Randolph County Health Department is administering first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for those ages 5 and older, as well as booster doses, at vaccine clinics from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 10 and 24. Call (618) 826-5007 to schedule an appointment and for a pediatric vaccine appointment.

K River Community Center will hold a vaccine clinic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 310 W. Elm St., in Baldwin.

<b>Chamber luncheon slated for Feb. 15</b>

The Chester Chamber of Commerce invites the public to a special lunch meeting at noon Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Chester Eagles. Jeremy Walker will be the guest speaker. <b>Library to host virtual visit with author</b>

Chester Public Library is joining libraries across the state in hosting bestselling author Jasmine Guillory to discuss her latest novel "While We Were Dating" and the modern rom-com. The event will be held virtually at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, or you can join the CPL Watch Party in the library's Community Room.
