Du Quoin cheer squad misses state finals by narrowest margin

1.38 points and one place.

That is the slim difference between Knoxville finishing in 10th place at Friday's cheerleading state finals preliminary round in Bloomington, and Du Quoin coming in 11th.

The top 10 finishers in each class move onto the state finals on Saturday.

Knoxville finished 10th with 85.13 points and Du Quoin 11th with 83.75, meaning the Indians have missed tomorrow's finals by the narrowest of margins.

Meanwhile, congratulations to the Pinckneyville squad, which finished 7th, and will be headed to the Class 1A finals tomorrow. As well, Carterville came in 6th and Breese Central in 8th.

The Class 1A top 10 are: Johnsburg, 93.87; North Boone (Poplar Grove), 90.20; Wilmington, 89.33; St. Edward (Elgin), 89.17; Columbia, 89.07; Pinckneyville, 86.90; Breese Central, 86.80; Farmington, 86.30; and Knoxville, 85.13.
