Du Quoin area briefs: Local students honored

<b>Local students honored at SEMO<b>

Several Perry County students have been named to both the President's List and the dean's list at Southeast Missouri State for the fall semester. President's List students earned at least a 4.0 grade-point average. They are Devyn Barton of Coulterville and Shania Opp of Tamaroa. Dean's list students earned at least a 3.75 on a 4.0-point scale. They are Devyn Barton of Coulterville, Hannah Porter of Pinckneyville, Cameron Hepp of Pinckneyville and Shania Opp of Tamaroa.

<b>D300 personnel</b>

The District 300 school board approved Ashley Leeper's request for maternity leave from Feb. 14 through the remainder of the school year. The board accepted resignations from A. Tyler King, a supervisory aide at the elementary school, effective Jan. 7; from high school secretary Lesley Hamburger, effective at the end of the school year; and from health aide C. Tiswana Hudson, effective Jan. 18.

The board approved the requests of Lisa Coleman and Deborah Pierce that their retirement dates be amended to the conclusion of the 2021-2022 school year.

The District 300 board has hired or transferred the following: Employed Angela Myersas a supervisor aide at DES for the remainder of the school year; employed Michele Jones as elementary vocal music teacher for the 2022-2023 year; employed James "Ike" Minton as DMS band director for the remainder of the school year; employed Katrina Lance as a middle school social studies teacher for the 2022-2023 year; employed Missy Montgomery as the Gifted Math Teacher at DMS for the 2022-2023 year; transferred Robin Yancey to 8th grade math for the 2022-2023 year; transferred Susan Szymcek to 5th grade math for the 2022-2023 school year; transferred Isaac Miller to become the middle school intervention math teacher for the 2022-2023 school year; employed Amy Hill as a custodian; and employed Trebor Mann as girls soccer coach through the 21st Century grant.
