Mary Ann Jeffreys of Chester
Mary Ann Jeffreys, 100, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021 at Randolph County Care Center in Sparta, Illinois.
She was born to the late Harry E. and Martha (nee Rensch) Kennedy on Oct. 14, 1921 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Mary Ann married Robert "Jeff" L. Jeffreys on April 25, 1959 in Washington, D.C.; he preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2004.
She was a homemaker. In her earlier years she was a secretary for the Department of the Navy.
Mary Ann was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chester where she also served as a secretary for many years. She was the corresponding secretary for the USS Birmingham CL62 Reunion.
She was a part of several organizations and clubs, including United Methodist Women, Library Board, Bridge Club and the Hospital Auxiliary where she was chairman of the blood drive. She loved playing games and was an avid reader.
Mary Ann is survived by her son, Chris (Patricia) Jeffreys of Lebanon, Illinois; four grandchildren, Eric Jeffreys, Sarah (K.C.) Peterson, Jeremy Fernow and Sarah Mueller; and three great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Selena and Kadence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Eugene Kennedy.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, 2021 at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester, officiated by Pastor James Oppedal. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.
Visitation will be held an hour before the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester.
Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church, in Chester.
