David Paul Taborn of Carrier Mills
David Paul Taborn, 60, of Carrier Mills, Illinois, died at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021 at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, officiated by the Rev. Jerry Huckleberry.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Thursday, from 10 a.m. to noon. Burial will follow in Taborn Cemetery in Carrier Mills, which is on David's property at 795 Taborn Road.
David was born on April 15, 1961 in Harrisburg, Illinois to the late Lorenzo and Christine (Gibbs) Taborn. He was employed by Walgreens in Mt. Vernon, Illinois where he worked for several years.
David graduated from Carrier Mills/Stonefort High School in 1979. He was an integral part of the basketball team that competed in the state tournament that year. His talents took him on to John A. Logan Community College to play basketball.
David loved to hunt and also loved cross-country cycling. He made several trips including a memorable one from Cairo, Illinois to Chicago. He loved spending time with his friends and family. He was a very kind, warm and caring man. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
David is survived by a brother, Dean (Debra) Taborn of Goreville, Illinois; a sister, Ramona Williams of Louisville, Kentucky; three sisters-in-law, Diane Taborn of Harrisburg, Carol Taborn of Carrier Mills and Caroline Taborn of Kentucky; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo and Christine Taborn; seven brothers, Orville Taborn, Dahl Taborn, Tyrone Taborn, Terry Taborn, Don L. Taborn, Bruce Taborn and Kelly Taborn; and three sisters, Marlice Crittendon, Pauline Curry and Ruth Ann Taborn.
