Glenn R. Korando of Chester
Glenn R. Korando, 87, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 2:16 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021 at Red Bud Regional Care Center.
He was born to the late Joseph and Philomena (nee Bert) Korando on March 9, 1934 in Chester.
Glenn married Ruby Verseman on Sept. 20, 1958 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester; she preceded him in death on Oct. 15, 2020.
He retired from Illinois Power after 29 years and was also a lifelong farmer.
Glenn was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester. He was also a life member of the American Legion Post #487 and a member of the V.F.W. Post #3553 in Chester.
He was a U.S. Marine and a veteran of the Korean War.
Glenn is survived by two children, Denise (Mike) Moen of Schuline, Illinois and John Korando of Chester; nine siblings, Allen Korando, Ellen Sander, Erna Voudrie, Jeanie Kliendschmidt, Gladys Velegas, Ruth Mollett, Tom Korando, Bob Korando and Walter Korando; six grandchildren, Josh (Becki) Korando, Sydney Korando, Matthew Korando, Shane (Leslie) Moen, Caleb (Deborah) Moen and Eliot (Kendra) Moen; five great-grandchildren, Mya, Macy, Sawyer, Chase and Jack; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two brothers, Bud Korando and Tony Korando.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 6, 2021 at Pechacek Funeral Homes, in Chester, Illinois, with Msgr. Dennis Schaefer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, prior to the funeral, at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester.
