Local team in hunt for Colt World Series championship
The Marion baseball team was on the verge Monday night of winning a place in Tuesday's Colt World Series final, being hosted by Rent One Park in Marion.
After beating Brownsville, Texas 8-2 on Friday and knocking off Covina, California 11-1 on Saturday, the Marion squad was in a position to be in the championship game Tuesday even though they slipped on Sunday against Greensboro, North Carolina, 10-7. In the nightcap on Sunday, Marion came back to form and beat Aroma Park, Illinois, 13-1.
Marion was scheduled to play in Monday night's semifinals against Covina, California at 8 p.m. A win would send Marion to Tuesday night's championship game, slated for a 6 p.m. start.
