Poore, Hadfield take reins of Terrier Athletics
If you can get Thor to help lead your high school athletic program, what more can you really ask for?
No, not that Thor! The God of Thunder has other, more pressing responsibilities. We are talking about Thor Hadfield, the newly appointed assistant athletic director for Carbondale Community High School.
Hadfield and new head Athletic Director Gwen Poore were hired last week to replace Mark Albertini and Marialice Jenkins in those respective positions. Poore, formerly the school's assistant principal, is switching roles with former AD Mark Albertini, who is the new assistant principal.
Poore is the wife of SIU football assistant coach Pat Poore and has served as athletic director at Elgin High School and Anoka High School in Minnesota before coming to CCHS.
Albertini cited wanting to spend more time with his four young children as his reason for desiring the change.
Hadfield was an all-MVFC level long snapper for the Dale Lennon-era Dawg kickers. He was on the All-MVFC Academic team for four years in a row and the regular All-MVFC second team in 2014. He also was named as the President's Council Award winner - the most prestigious award offered by the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
