DáJon Duvall 'DJ' Johnson of Du Quoin

DáJon Duvall "DJ" Johnson, 19, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:27 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at his residence.

DJ worked at Spartan Light Metals, and attended United Pentecostal Church in Du Quoin. DJ loved sports and was an athlete. He excelled in football and also played basketball.

He was born April 29, 2002 at Carbondale, Illinois, the son of David Johnson and Daisy (Carruthers) Kimble.

He is survived by one daughter, Kolbie Lynn McIntosh of Du Quoin; his mother, Daisy Kimble of Du Quoin; his father and stepmother, David and Elizabeth Johnson of Marion; his girlfriend, Haylie Laine McIntosh of Du Quoin; five brothers, Nathaniel H. Jones of Marion, David Duvall Johnson-Buck of Pinckneyville, DáMarion D. Johnson of Du Quoin, Elijah I. Jones of Du Quoin and Nicholas T. Kimble, Jr. of Du Quoin; one sister, NáKayla N. Kimble of Du Quoin; his grandmother, Beverly Jones; aunts and uncles, Valorie Worthington, Phylliss Johnson, Phillip Johnson, John Tolliver, Gary Dickerson, Charles Jones, Dorothy "TeTe" Johnson, Wanda Jones, Laneka Gaston, Rodell Jones and Jeremy Jones; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Pastor B.L. Dickerson and Tellious Johnson.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at the United Pentecostal Church in Du Quoin with the Rev. Dan McKinnies officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.

Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
