ISP: missing Harrisburg man was homicide victim
SALINE COUNTY - A missing Harrisburg man, Doyle Winston III, 42, was the victim of a homicide, which Illinois State Police is investigating.
On May 12, a passing motorist reported to the Saline County Sheriff's Office what he thought appeared to be a body along Illinois 13 immediately west of Harrisburg.
Saline County Sheriff James "Whipper" Johnson went to the location and confirmed that the body was that of a deceased male.
On Tuesday, Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation - Zone 8 announced that an autopsy was performed on Winston's body on May 14, and that the manner of death was determined to be homicide.
On Tuesday, May 11, Harrisburg Police Department issued a notice asking for the public's help in locating Winston. According to that news release, Winston last had communicated with friends in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 8. The investigation is being led by the ISP DCI Zone 8 and is still open and ongoing. ISP said no additional information will be released at this time.
