Storm results in Saline car crash with injuries

SALINE COUNTY - A Benton woman suffered injuries after the car in which she was riding hit a tree dropped by a storm Sunday afternoon in Saline County.

According to a traffic crash report from Illinois State Police District 19, at about 12:51 p.m., Larry G. Davis, 67, of Benton was driving a white 2007 Toyota Camry south on Illinois 34 just north of McFarland Road.

A tree had fallen across both lanes of Illinois 34 as the result of a storm, and was obstructed from Davis' view by a slight curve in the road. Upon making the curve, Davis struck the tree.

While Davis was not injured, his passenger, 64-year-old Shelia F. Davis of Benton was. Shelia Davis was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with non- life-threatening injuries.

All lanes were reopened at about 3:13 p.m.
