Eleonore Haseker of Marion
Eleonore Haseker, age 85, of Marion, Illinois, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 10:32 p.m. in Marion.
Eleonore was born on May 18, 1935 in Heidelberg, Germany, a daughter of Edward and Eva (Hochzeit) Ewald. She married George L. Haseker, Jr. on November 5, 1955 and to this union three children were born. In 1958, George moved his family back home to his country, the United States. In 1963 they moved to Marion, Illinois.
Eleonore worked for 43 years for Maytag until she retired. She loved crocheting and knitting, but especially loved greyhounds. She owned several during her life and loved to spend time walking them.
Survivors include her three children, Ronnie Haseker of Marion, Mike Haseker of Marion and Michele Otto of Paulton; six grandchildren, Michael (Cayenne) Haseker, Shelly Haseker, Amy Whitehead, Rachel Dasilva, Daniel (Erica) Whitehead and Hailey Haseker; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Elizabeth Gartner of Germany; her brother, Horst (Kristina) Ewald of Germany; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.
Funeral services for Eleonore Haseker will be held at Heartland Christian Church in Marion on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 12 p.m. with her nephew, Don Eberhart officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Greyhound Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 638, Homosassa, Florida 34487. Envelopes will be available at the church or at the funeral home.
