Pavelonis named new head of District 95
Janice Pavelonis will take over as superintendent at Carbondale Elementary School District 95, replacing Daniel Booth, who has been named superintendent at Carbondale Community High School.
The District 95 Board of Education approved Pavelonis as superintendent in a unanimous vote on March 18. Board members credited Booth with urging an internal candidate.
"Yes, thank you Mr. Booth," Pavelonis said.
Pavelonis has previously served as the district's assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction.
Her move to superintendent of schools is part of an administrative shake-up that aims to trim costs.
At the same meeting, the board accepted the resignation of Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services Latasha Schraeder.
In the meantime, Booth will remain on the job at Carbondale elementary schools until the end of June, helping with the transition until Pavelonis takes over on July 1.
